Mission

The Virginia Council for Learning Disabilities (VCLD) is a statewide organization that promotes evidence-based teaching, collaboration, research, leadership, and advocacy within the Commonwealth. VCLD is composed of professionals who represent diverse disciplines and are committed to enhancing the education and quality of life for individuals with learning disabilities and others who experience challenges in learning.

Vision

 Our Goal is to increase and improve educational opportunities and quality of life options for individuals with learning disabilities and others who experience challenges in learning. To accomplish this, our vision is to include all educators, researchers, administrators and support personnel who work or interact with said individuals.

Goals

  • Stimulate communication and collaboration among preservice and inservice professionals working with individuals with learning disabilities and others who experience challenges in learning.
  • Provide a forum for identifying and examining current field-related issues.
  • Provide opportunities for and/or information on ongoing professional development 
  • Advocate for continued program development and/or improvement for individuals with learning disabilities and others who experience challenges in learning. 
  • Promote excellence and contributions within the profession. 
  • Support the dissemination of research, current understandings and advancements in the field of disabilities.
